Interplanetary Drive is ready for testers

The 0.2.0 tester release turns an attached collection into files you can browse in your computer's ordinary file interface. Here is what works and what still needs testing.

Interplanetary Drive 0.2.0 is available for people who want to try Internet collections as ordinary files. Attach an IPFS collection link, an Internet Archive item, or an HTTP JSON manifest. The collection then appears in Finder on Mac, Cloud Files on Windows, or FUSE on Linux. You can browse it without downloading the entire source and keep individual files locally.

The image shows a development test collection in the Mac app. Native reads have been verified with test content on each supported platform. Cold Internet reads still depend on the source, its peers, and the connection; this release is for testers rather than a promise that every collection and application is already covered.

The product page has the download and platform-specific setup instructions. If you try it, a useful report includes your operating system, the source type, what you expected to appear as files, and where the experience stopped matching that expectation.
